If your project requires snow drift loading, it can be applied using the “Add Uniform Load” option. Snow drift loading calculations and location requirements should be provided by the Building Designer.
The Building Designer is defined in ANSI/TPI 1 as “Owner of the Building or the Person that contracts with the Owner for the design of the Building Structural System and/or who is responsible for the preparation of the Construction Documents.”
Once the snow drift loading requirements have been determined, they can be added to the trusses in the following steps.
- Go into the iDesign portion of IntelliVIEW and select the truss you need.
2. Click on the Loads pulldown menu, and then select Add Uniform Load
3. Enter the drift load requirements that were provided by the Building Designer. The screenshot shows some typical settings used for a snow drift loads
4. The Trapezoidal load is shown here starting at 0 to 40 PLF
