Within Alpine iDesign, there are instances where a truss imported from Layout is assigned a BC100 bearing, even though the intended bearing condition should be Continuous.
When using the Modify Bearing tool to correct this, the software may not apply the Continuous bearing in the expected way. Example 1 below illustrates how the resulting bearing condition does not match the desired configuration.
Example 1:
A more efficient way to handle this situation is to delete the existing BC100 bearings and add a new bearing using the settings shown in Example 2. This method ensures the Continuous bearing is applied correctly and consistently.
Example 2:
By selecting Continuous from the Type dropdown when adding a new bearing, you can then select the desired bottom chords. The system will automatically trace the bottom‑chord pitch for you. See Example 3 below.
