If you are getting 4x2 material in roof trusses you may have the truss thickness setting in User Preferences set to 4x2 instead of 2x4.
Go to Settings\Job Settings and select the Truss tab. Locate the Truss Thickness setting and select 2x4. Now select OK and add add the truss condition. It should now have 2x4 material.
